Bran Castle also known as Dracula’s Castle was build by the end of the 14th century by Ludovic D’Anjou ,King of Hungary and Poland on the border between two historical Romanian regions Transylvania and Wallachia to stop the invasion of the Ottoman Empire . The location was not picked randomly , besides the strategic position in the Valley Rucar-Bran the name with Slavic origins ( Branna) has several meanings. Probably the most common one is gate . Bran Castle also known for being the home of the famous Vlad III Dracula was for centuries one of the Gates of Western world.
